The following are several photos of adults collected in Buffalo Bayou @ Hwy 6, Harris County.
The red shiner is adundant in turbid water and is the most common minnow
in that environment in the Houston area. I've found that they can be
collected in abundance in areas of agitated water. They are also easily
collected with minnow traps baited with bread and chicken liver. The
location I've found them to be most easily collected is in the Brazos
River at I10. They are also easily collected in Buffalo Bayou. They
are widespread and can be collected in most locations.
