The Banded Pygmy Sunfish is common and widely distributed in the Houston area.
This tiny native typically hides in dense vegetation in quiet bodies of water and is
best collected by dipnetting through such vegetation. It is more rarely found pockets
of vegetation at the edge of open bodies of water.
